OUGD504 - SB1 - A-Z: Type in Context - The Brief
The way in which typography is utilised changes from place-to-place and varies greatly in effectiveness, style, communication and aesthetic. Graphic Designers, through training, are acutely sensitive to the ways in which type is used and abused in the real world.
Typography in context rarely meets our expectations, this variety only serves to make the world more interesting and diverse. In this module, I will be aiming to produce a publication that celebrates the richness and diversity of type as it is to a specific place.
The Brief - Collect and organise photographic and copy context to be used in a publication entitiled 'A-Z: Type in context", The publication will explore the typography specific to a particular place.
The letters can be found anywhere from roadsigns, shop windows and newspapers to grafitti and a short passage must be written about each letter and the context in which it was taken. Where is it used and for what purpose? Is it effective? Is it easy to read? Does it communicate well?
Mandatory Requirements:
Reasonable quality photographs.
Copy written in formal language, consistently in the third person.
