OUGD603 - Brief 01 - Sierra - Brief Interpretation

Throughout Summer I continued to work for Bannenberg & Rowell Design as their freelance designer. After completing a variety of projects I have been contacted and commissioned once again to complete another paid project. Taking on live projects such as this one are great for gaining exposure, as my work is implemented and showcased on superyachts that travel around the World. The brief given to me was to:

'Produce a range of logo ideas for a new superyacht. The client has to be kept unknown; therefore, responses should be based on the yacht name. It is called 'Sierra' and outcomes should be delivered as digital vector files'.

As I was not allowed to know who the client is, background research could not be made into their interests and style preference. Instead, the responses made were informed entirely from the name of the boat.

From experience, I have found that superyachts use either a full text logo or symbol, which is applied to the exterior and all other forms of branding. The deliverables for this brief will therefore be a variety of logos - a combination of symbols and type designs that can be given to Bannenberg & Rowell for presentation to the client.

For this brief I have set myself a timescale of 2 weeks. I have completed similar briefs before in 3 weeks; therefore, want to challenge myself to use my time as effectively as possible. A rough timetable has been made to ensure that I complete all the work on time successfully.
