OUGD603 - Brief 07 - Loneliness - Digital Development: Colour, Imagery & Layout

Alongside creating logoshapes, the themes of positivity and community have been used to inform a colour scheme. Research highlighted that yellow gives off the feeling of friendliness and positivity, whilst blue gives off the feeling of credibility, trust and communication (Ultimate Guide to Color Psychology). The research made into accessibility highlights that people with some disabilities, such as autism, can not deal with intense, contrasting colours as it causes a sensory overload. Therefore, to keep in line with the concept of accessibility and combatting all loneliness a muted colour palette has been made.

As the concept of the campaign is to use positive imagery, royalty free images have been collated that show young people and elderly together, as well as individually, in a warm, positive light. To keep the colour scheme consistent images were made black and white, with highlights of yellow and blue being added for subtlety.

A simple grid has been made that informs the layout and placement of the logo, type and images for all outcomes. Type is to be kept left-aligned for optimum legibility.
