Idea 1 - Inspired by research into the word 'rhapsody' and the musical definition reference, the concept of this idea is to launch a campaign around famous song lyrics, combining them with food from the menu/ingredients as puns. A few examples created are 'Just eat it' (Michael Jackson), 'Wrap city b*tch' (Tyga) and 'Started from the bottom now we sear' (Drake). To target young people and people in Shoreditch lyric food puns will focus on different eras of music.
Idea 2 - As James has asked me to help curate the menu I have written a variety a main wrap ideas that I think could potentially work. This was informed entirely from my interest in food - I avoided taking inspiration from online vendors as I thought that this would reduce originality and uniqueness. 5 main wrap ideas have been created.
Idea 3 - Inspired by the research made into the origin of the wrap, this concept focuses on revolving the branding of Wrapsody around the bold geometric shapes, bright colours and experimental photographic style present in 80s design. I will show James some reference images when presenting this idea as it is difficult to show through a sketch.
Idea 4 - The final idea is inspired by the branding technique used in the previous 2 projects of this module, where shapes were used to accompany a typographic logo. For this project the concept is to use the shapes of ingredients from the menu as the main form of visual imagery that would accompany a purely typographic logo.
Feedback - James didn't like the 1st idea as he thought it was 'tacky' and not representative of the company. For this reason I will not develop it further. In terms of the 2nd idea, James has been very enthusiastic about some of the menu creations I made. I am not going to develop them any further as he has taken my proposals away and will form a full menu by combining his ideas with mine.
In terms of the branding he likes the idea of referencing 80s design styles as he wants Wrapsody to be bright, colourful and eye-catching. After showing him the previous 2 projects and the concept behind using shapes he has suggested that I combine idea 3 with idea 4, using ingredient shapes and a type logo with an 80s design style. I am happy with this and am going to focus digital developments on these aspects.
