OUGD603 - Brief 05 - Event Identity - FLAC: Production

Working closely with Luke, a bespoke logotype has been created by combining two of our typeface ideas together and experimenting. The final logotype produced is built from a combination of sharp angular lines and soft curves. The idea behind this is that the letterforms could also be used to form the logoshapes. By using a similar layout as the moon poster, created in the previous stage, a rough poster layout has been produced.

In regards of the brand colours, inspiration has been drawn from an Ortofon Cartridge, found on vinyl players. This aims to make a reference to old rave culture, where only vinyl players were used.

In terms of typefaces, Maison Neue Mono has been picked to use for body copy and poster information. Monospace typefaces are frequently used in tablature music and are easily legible due to their the characters occupying the same amount of horizontal space.

As we aim to put the event on in Summer, a different colour choice has been made for event #001, as the blue brand colour was agreed to be too dark to visually promote a Summery event. Experimentation with colours and gradients has led to a variety of options, which feedback was received on. The light cyan/green gradient option has been voted as the most appropriate, as it combined an essence of our brand colour - blue, with green - representative of our desire to host the first event outdoors.

As the team agreed on the logotype, logoshapes, typefaces and colour scheme, a brand guidelines booklet has been produced. As Luke is more experienced at editorial design, he put together the booklet with a few members of Mannequin Collective. Whilst doing so, I generated all the digital content, including the posters, website, social media pages and marketing strategy, with help from some of the team.

The website concept is to keep it simple and as secretive as possible. People will be able to put in their name, email, phone number and age to receive a ticket. This will be distributed to them via a text and email. Whilst this isn't the same as old raves, where a number could be called to find out information, the use of text and email would allow us to send out regular updates to those attending. Furthermore, having an online presence is important to promote content, such as photos of the nights, streams and much more.
